American Roulette – An Introduction
By alex. Filed in Roulet |Roulette is actually a French word, translating into English as “small wheel,” hence the term being coined as a popular gambling game in American casinos and beyond. In the game of roulette, players will put down bets on what number or color they believe the roulette ball will land on when the wheel stops spinning.
The American Version
The American style of roulette comes with a wheel that has 38 holes on its edge. Each hole has one number ranging from 1-36 as well as a 00 and 0. Players are allowed to bet on any number they choose; the winning payout is a ratio of of 35-to-1. For example, if a player puts their chips on “15” and the ball lands on that number, the player will get 35 chips.
Other Ways to Bet
All numbers are one of two colors – red or black. Those who bet on a certain color will earn a 1-1 payout ratio. Numbers are also divided into thirds because the wheel has 36 numbers; this kind of bet will give a player a 2-1 payout ratio. There is also the combination bet where players bet on a certain combination of numbers. For two numbers, the payout ratio is 17-1; for three roulette numbers, the ratio is 11-1, and for four numbers, the ratio is 8-1.
Various Number Picking Strategies
The strategies for roulette vary from player to player. A great deal of players decide to stick with a certain number or set of numbers and only use those. Some experienced roulette players will bet on their “lucky” numbers. However, it is best to watch what numbers the ball lands on the most. But keep in mind that there are no guarantees in roulette as it is ruled by chance.
