Roulette is fairly simple and requires no gambling skills to enjoy but there are many circulating myths that cause people to believe there is more to roulette than what meets the eye. The following are three popular roulette myths coupled with an explanation as to why they are inaccurate.

1) Every Roulette Wheel Is the Same as the Next

This myth is definitely not true. When it comes to roulette wheels, there are two styles – European and American. The differences are in the slots and zero spaces. European wheels only have 37 slots and one zero space while American wheels come complete with 38 slots and two zero spaces.

When you calculate the odds, the American wheel’s extra zero space makes a huge difference. The house’s advantage in the American version  is 5.26 percent while the European version is just 2.57 percent. This means the odds of winning on a European wheel are higher than its American counterpart.

2) Patterns Are a Good Indicator of Number Predictions

Randomness is the name of the game for roulette. So even if the roulette ball lands on red five times back to back, the next spin has the same chance of being red or black. This result is true regardless of the number of times any color has appeared.

3) Mathematics Can Give a Player the Competitive Edge

Even it mathematics were an asset for roulette players, there is no known system that can indicate the possible numbers that the ball will land on unless the player possesses an extensive background of historical data.

It is simply impossible to calculate a roulette wheel’s result as players do not have this information. Mathematical systems do not work and this is because roulette is a gambling game solely based on chance.
