No matter where you decide to channel your extra funds, you still have to manage them in an appropriate manner. And this rule is particularly important when you decide to gamble because a large sum may be on the line. As a matter of fact, proper money management bears a greater importance than having a full grasp on the game of which you are playing.

Reduce Your Losses

Any time you gamble, you should manage your cash flow so that your odds of losing a great deal of money are reduced. But if you want to accomplish this, you must know what the game’s odds are. This piece of information will help you place future bets that have better chances of winning.

An Example

When playing American roulette, the wheel contains 38 numbers. Two of these numbers are green, 18 are red, and the other 18 are black. When you bet on odd, even, black, or red, you will have the same odds because each choice has 18 possible wins. In order to calculate your percentage for winning, you need to take the number “18” and divide it by the amount of slots located on the wheel. The answer to this calculation is 47.36 percent, which means you will 47 times out of 100 bets.

Take It One Step Further

Now, take this calculation one step further and think about it in terms of money. If a particular bet is placed 100 times, with $10 bet each time, the player will lose 53 times and win 43 times. Translated, the player will have a $470 profit but a $530 loss. This means every 100 spins will cause the player to lose $60. However, as long as you quit while you have made a small profit, you can increase your chances of total wins.
