Roulette – The History
By alex. Filed in Roulet |Even though roulette has become wildly popular in modern society, the history of this game remains unknown to many people. This game actually has an interesting past. To start, roulette is French for “tiny wheel” and requires its players to put a wager down on numbers and colors. If the ball that is dropped into the spinning wheel lands on a player’s number or color, that player wins. This game is solely based on the randomness of the roulette wheel’s results.
France in the 1700s
The first known form of roulette started in France during the 1700s as written in an excerpt of a book created in the beginning of the 18th century. This book detailed the start of this game in a casino in France. Louis Blanc and Fracois Blanc were two brothers credited with the origins of roulette, which was actually founded in Germany. But due to the country’s ban on casinos and gambling halls, these brothers quickly relocated their roulette operation to gambling-friendly Monte Carlo.
The Game’s Expansion
Once players from all over the world got a taste of roulette, this casino game made its way beyond France where it flourished in many countries such as the United States. Today, roulette has made its way to the Internet where it remains one of the biggest gambling games.
Roulette Rumors
Most gamblers do not know of a certain roulette rumor that suggests this game’s beginnings are rooted in evil. It is said that Louis Blanc formed a deal with the devil in order to know all of roulette’s secrets. This pact was the supposed reason for Louis Blanc’s eventual insanity. One fact that fuels the fire of this rumor is that when every number on the wheel is added together, the final total is 666 – Satan’s number.
