Roulette is a gambling game that revolves around players betting on what number will appear when the roulette wheel is spun. According to whether a gambler is playing the American or European version, there could be 37 or 38 slots on the game wheel, each slot with its own number.

Placing Bets

Roulette bets are made by simply putting chips down on the game’s table. The majority of the table consists of marked boxes containing a number that corresponds with the roulette wheel. Gamblers are permitted to put their bet on any single number, all red numbers, all black numbers, evens, odds or number combinations.  Also, bets may be put on the first, second or third dozen as well as the lowest or highest half. Of course, the type of allowed bets will vary from casino to casino.

Playing the Game

There is a short time period for making bets. This is done by putting chips on the table as outlined above. Players who choose to enjoy roulette online will simply have to click their mouse on the area where they want to place a bet. A right click will usually reduce or remove a bet.

Once the Wheel Has Spun

After the time period for betting is over, the wheel is spun and a metal ball is released into the wheel. The wheel will eventually slow down and stop inside of a numbered wheel pocket. If a player has bet on the number shown by the wheel, that player is declared the winner and receives his or her payout according to the odds of their bet. For example, an even-money wager, which has a ratio of 1-to-1, will give a player $10 if he or she bet $10. If the bet carried odds of 2-to-1, the winner who bet $10 will rake in $20.
